Joe Palermo, a businessman and property developer based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, helped develop the Bad Boy Buggy in 2003. The Bad
Boy Buggy is an off-road electric vehicle. Although some had to be
recalled back in 2007, the newest models are extremely safe, efficient,
and tough. Palermo has many years of experience running several
businesses and property development companies. In 1963, he founded
Palermo Realty Development, a company he still runs to this day. For
decades, Palermo Realty Development partnered with Palermo’s second
company, Palermo Construction Company, established in 1967, to increase
the value of properties throughout the Lake Charles area in southwest
Louisiana.
Joe Palermo has founded several businesses in the Lake Charles area since Palermo Realty Development was founded. In 2003, Palermo decided to get into the 4x4 off-road market with a new vehicle that ran on electricity. The struggle with the Bad Boy Buggy was its perceived weakness on the trail. Consumers thought that with an electric engine, the buggy wouldn’t be able to take common off-road obstacles such as fallen branches, rocks, and uneven terrain. Joel Palermo of Lake Charles and his management team for Bad Boy Enterprises managed to convince enough investors and eventually customers that the buggy was built for off-road terrains and had plenty of power. Today, Bad Boy Enterprises is an international, multi-million-dollar business.
